CHARLESTON AREA SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER OPENS OFFICE IN THE BERKELEY COUNTY CHAMBER BUILDING

The Charleston Area Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is expanding its footprint to Berkeley County. The new SBDC office will be located in the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce building in Moncks Corner. In a strategic alliance with the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce, the SBDC has consultants who provide free, one-on-one, confidential consultations to entrepreneurs who want to start a business or expand an existing business.

Beginning November 6, the SBDC office will be open on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Consultations are free and by-appointment only with an SBDC Consultant. Call 843.740.6160 to make an appointment.
The SBDC staff members, who work in the Berkeley Chamber office, consult with business owners on a variety of topics such as business plans, marketing, sales growth strategies and fiscal management. The Charleston Area SBDC is one of 21 centers in South Carolina.

Lauria, whose specialty is exporting and manufacturing, also consults with clients on general business practices. Lauria said the leadership team at the Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce have been pleasant to work with.

In 2017, the SC SBDC helped entrepreneurs create or retain over 1,174 jobs; start 136 new businesses; create $58.9 million in capital formation; and secure more than $4.5 billion in government contracts.
